Good Old Games, ever devoted to the Lord's work (i.e., immortalizing old PC games by reworking them so they can be played on modern systems), have a surprising high number of games I played as a kid on their website, but today they added what may very well be, along with Lemmings, two of the crown jewels of my childhood: Star Trek: 25th Anniversary and Star Trek: Judgment Rites. They, along with Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which I've never played, are available for $5.99 apiece, which might be a teensy bit on the high side for 25th but is an absolute steal for Judgment Rites, one of my top five video games of all time.
If you've never played either of these games and you consider yourself a fan of point-and-clicks, you owe it to yourself to give them a whirl. Interplay wisely shaped Star Trek in the adventure game mold rather than the other way around, and as such there's a much higher emphasis on diplomacy and critical decision-making than on action (though there's plenty of that, especially in the earlier missions).
While it's cool that these are now available for new generations of gamers to enjoy, the part of me that can't resist awful marketing gimmicks wishes they had waited until 2017 to release them—that way it would have been the 25th anniversary of 25th Anniversary. Alas.
Quick note: the screenshot assortments do—rather classlessly, I have to say—contain some spoilers, particularly in the case of Judgment Rites, so try to avoid looking at those if you're interested in picking these up.
